I am a local mortgage banker for Highlands Residential Mortgage, LTD. I have been in the mortgage industry for 30 years and with Highlands for ten, serving as the branch manager for our largest branch in the country–prior to moving to Angel Fire.
I have also served as secretary for two working-boards in the last ten years, Community Lifeline Center and the Eldorado Homeowner’s Association–both in McKinney, TX.
My friends and business associates would say I am a relationship builder, a kind but tenacious leader and a good listener.
What do you think are the most important issues or improvements you would champion as a Director on the Board?
Having grown up in a small-town golf club/HOA, I greatly understand the importance of a good relationship between the property owners and the resort. I would advocate for a mutually-beneficial relationship with AFR that helps our small town and our property values thrive. This includes advocating for new amenities that are enjoyable for our members but will also make our visitors want to come back year after year. Our local economy is a very important factor in retaining our property values and watching them grow. I want every member to feel heard. And I want us all to compromise and work together for the best possible results.

Angel Fire is very unique. We have a symbiotic relationship with both the Resort and the Village. Trust, respect, and a willingness to work together is vital to all of our success. We are seeing increased building of homes which means more upkeep, infrastructure, and traffic. So our job as a HOA is only getting bigger and more complex. It is vital that we work with the Resort to review the covenants, to ensure they are fair and modernized. With the increased construction I also believe that it is vital to protect our wild/native habitats such as green belts and marshes. I would personally like to see a dark sky initiative (which we have, but it’s not widely known) to ensure that we minimize light pollution (we have amazing night skies and I for one would like to keep it!). Finally, if Base Area Master Plan is going to move forward it will be important to work with the Resort on member assessments. This will be an important upgrade for everyone involved, but we need to know what and how much!

I am a native Okie. Technically a third generation – my family moved to Oklahoma Territory during the land grant. I graduated from Oklahoma Christian with a BA in Music Performance. I spent a couple of years in Brazil doing mission work there (my Portuguese is very rusty). I have three children: my daughter lives and works in Boston and my boys are both in college (SWOSU and OSU). I enjoy snow skiing and golf and can make a pretty good wind knot in a fly line. When I’m in Okc I enjoy trying new restaurants, breweries or just grilling in my back yard. I also love live music, If I’m not in Okc or Angel Fire, I’m probably at a concert somewhere.

I received a B.S. Electrical Engineering from the University of Arizona in 1982. I have had an exciting 31 year career in several high tech industries, from Aerospace to Personal Computers, Fiber Optics to Semiconductor Capital Equipment. My primary focus was in Quality/Reliability Engineering, Quality Assurance/Control, and Process Development and Continuous Improvement. The last 15 years of my career were in Executive Management of several multi-national corporations. This experience has provided me the opportunity to be involved in many cross-functional projects, where I had to understand process operations from the perspective of all of the stakeholders in the organization. As a member of the AAFPO Board of Directors, representing the perspectives and interests of a diverse collection of Property Owners, each with their own point of view and perspective on important issues affecting our community, I feel this experience will assure that I adequately consider and represent all angles when making decisions for the good of all.
What do you think are the most important issues or improvements you would champion as a Director on the Board?
Amenities! I feel all AAFPO members want to be assured of access to and continued improvement of the great amenities offered by membership in AAFPO. This is the primary reason AAFPO was created and where I think the Board should be primarily focused. Speaking for myself, the reason I bought in Angel Fire in 1987 was because of access to golf, skiing, fishing, hiking all in one Resort community. Now that the distraction of the lawsuit is behind us, I want to work with this Board to get the focus back where it belongs. If elected, I will continue the work I have already begun with this Board to assure that the policies and processes necessary to assure consistent execution of this charter are put in place and endure through future leadership changes.

Several years ago during the AAFPO/Resort litigation, I was actively engaged in assuring member awareness of the facts in order to minimize voter apathy and maximize understanding of the issues underlying the litigation. I then was an active member of the AAFPO Election Committee to assure the election of qualified candidates to the Board. In doing so, I helped establish a set of governing documents for the Committee to assure consistent execution of this important role regardless of a transition of personnel. My wife, Ginny, and I are retired and live in Angel Fire year around, in the house we dreamed of building since we bought our property in 1987. We are not going anywhere. We are living our dream. I want to participate on this Board so I can assure our dream is protected. I ask for your vote and the opportunity to represent your dreams here as well. Thank you!

Hello, my name is Susan Schwindt. My husband, Mike, and I have owned a home in Angel Fire since 2016. Our primary residence is in Colleyville, TX. We have two sons, Wes and Nick. Wes is studying Biomedical Sciences at Texas A&M. Nick is heading to the University of Kansas this August to study Business. Our family loves spending time skiing, golfing, fishing and hiking in Angel Fire. Angel Fire is truly our “Happy Place” and where we plan to create many more family memories! In my spare time, I enjoy running, biking, walking trails and reading.
As a Broker of specialty minor metals, I have owned my own business for 12 years. In my business, I sell recycled minor metals to metal processors. This involves dealing with logistics, market analysis, and financial and electronic transactions. What I love most about my business is that I am part of the recycling stream of a rare commodity.
In addition, I have been on PTA and HOA boards for several years in Texas. I enjoy getting involved in my community and look forward to serving on the AAFPO board.
What do you think are the most important issues or improvements you would champion as a Director on the Board?
The current AAFPO Board has re-established a good relationship with the Resort, and I strongly believe it is important to maintain this relationship for continued growth. It truly benefits property owners if the AAFPO Board maintains a solid and transparent relationship with the Resort. My family uses the majority of the amenities Angel Fire Resort offers. I would like for the AFFPO allotted dues to be put to good use on all amenities, including the mountain.
Thank you for considering my candidacy to the AAFPO Board.

A lifelong resident of New Mexico, I graduated from Eastern New Mexico University in 1986 with a degree in accounting. After graduation I spent 4 years working as a CPA in public accounting in Albuquerque. For the past 33 years, I’ve been employed as a manager/owner in two GM dealerships in Moriarty and Los Lunas, the last 24 years as President and General Manager of our Moriarty dealership – Tillery Chevrolet GMC. I have served several years on the board of directors at a local little league, as well as several years on the board of a New Mexico Automobile Dealers Association, including a year as Chairman. My wife and I have been Angel Fire property owners since 2015. We spend much of our time there year-round, dividing our time between our home in Albuquerque and Angel Fire equally. In addition to owning a primary residence in Angel Fire, we also own and manage two Airbnb properties in Angel Fire, giving us a comprehensive perspective of issues that affect full-time residents as well as property investors. We are avid golfers, skiers, hikers, users of the open spaces as well as many of the other resort amenities.
What do you think are the most important issues or improvements you would champion as a Director on the Board?
Maintaining a cohesive working relationship with the Resort is the most important issue. WIthout the amenities provided for and maintained by the Resort our properties would not be nearly as valuable to us. Continuous improvement of those amenities with input from residents is also a key component to maintaining the Angel Fire atmosphere.
