Election Update and December 4th Meeting Agenda

AAFPO has received over 200 requests for ballots. The ballot requests have been forwarded to the Resort for confirmation.  They need to verify that a property owner is a member in good standing and, therefore, eligible to vote. Because Angel Fire Resort controls the AAFPO database we can only confirm your standing from the list the Resort has supplied.

If you believe you are eligible to vote but have not received a ballot, please email AAFPO at aafposecretary@gmail.com. You will need to provide your track lot number, address, and membership number.

The Election closes on December 3rd. Please vote.

As the election draws near, numerous emails about the upcoming election with various scenarios regarding how we have arrived at such a controversial status have increased. The primary reason for this controversy was the lack of information provided to the AAFPO Board by Angel Fire Resort.  Angel Fire Resort refuses to recognize the board, even though the judge ruled that we are a legitimate board.

Clearly, the Resort’s candidates have had great PR support from Angel Fire Resort.  Their platform is to discontinue the litigation. When this group sued the Association of Angel Fire Property Owners, they cost the membership over $40,000 in legal fees, and they caused the election to be postponed by 6 months.

If the Resort’s candidates take control of the AAFPO Board, and drop the lawsuit as they have promised, you may never know what is behind the Resort’s lack of transparency and smokescreen. It will be a dangerous signal to them that they can do what they want with the assessments you are obligated to pay.

Here’s just one example of their smokescreen. Recently, an employee assigned by the Resort, explained under oath that the the assessments collected from AAFPO membership have paid for 100% ($245,000!) of the license and maintenance fees of the membership database software. This contradicted the Resort’s earlier assertion that AAFPO assessments were not used to pay the software vendor, Jonas Software. The Resort used this false assertion to justify why AAFPO should not have access to the membership database. Other disturbing facts have been uncovered, such as the Resort’s handling of delinquencies, liens, and foreclosures.

Your current AAFPO board is fighting for your membership rights and the fair and proper use of your assessments. The Resort believes your assessments, $7 million this year, can be used however they choose. It’s not the Resort’s money, it’s yours. It must be spent only in a manner consistent with the terms of the legally binding agreements that govern AAFPO and the Resort. The AAFPO board believes the Resort is violating the agreements.

We offered to collaborate with the Resort to resolve the issues, but they refused each time.

Despite what you have been told by the Resort, their candidates, and real estate interests, your current Board cares about the membership, and we love Angel Fire.

Please vote before December 3rd and attend the Annual Meeting on December 4th.

The Annual Meeting agenda and sign-on information is shown below.

Respectfully,

Penni Davey, President, AAFPO Board

Directors: Holly Ham, Gene Knight, Trevor Moore, Michael Morache, Hank Rennar
